NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

 

NOTICE is hereby given that the Special General Meeting of the Members of the Ahmedabad Branch of Western Indian Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India will be held on Saturday 9th January, 2010 at 8.00 am at the Branch premises, “ICAI Bhawan”, 123 Sardar Patel Colony, Nr. Usmanpura Underbridge, P.O. Navjivan, Ahmedabad – 380 014.

1.                  To Elect Eight Members to the Managing Committee for the term 2010-2013.

Relevant directions of the Central Council regarding Election to Managing Committee is reproduced here under:

“Every member of the Institute whose name has been enrolled on the branch register immediately six months prior to the date of election shall be eligible to vote and/or stand for election to the Managing Committee of the branch to which he belongs.

 

Provided that a member who is in default as regards payment of his annual membership and/or Regional Council fee shall not be eligible to vote and/or stand for election.

 

Any member desirous of standing for election shall submit a nomination, to the Returning Officers, duly signed by the Candidate and by the proposer and the seconder (both of whom shall be person entitled to vote in the election); so as to reach the said to Returning Officer at least 10 days prior to the Special  General Meeting at which the election is to take place.  The names of the candidate shall be circulated to the members of the branch at least three days prior to the said special General Meeting at which the election is to take place.  The names of the candidate shall be circulated to the members of the branch at least three days prior to the said Special General Meeting.

 

In accordance with the Directions of the Central Council regarding functioning of the Branches of Regional Council, the Managing Committee of the Ahmedabad Branch of Western India Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is pleased to notify the following dates for the election of Members of the Managing Committee of the Branch for the term 2010-2013.

MEMORANDUM OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTION TO THE MANAGING COMMITTEE OF THE AHMEDABAD BRANCH OF WIRC OF ICAI.

 

1.                    On entering the polling booth, you should proceed directly to the person in-charge of identification and announce your identity.  After your identity has been established, you will be given Ballot Paper for the election.

2.                    On receiving the ballot paper, you should forthwith proceed to secret chamber set apart for the purpose of casting your vote.

3.                    In order to cast a valid vote, you must place on your ballot paper (tick mark) in the square provided opposite to the name of maximum up to 8 (Tick Marks) – candidate/s in favour of whom, you desire to vote.

4.                    It may be noted that the ballot paper shall be invalid  under the following circumstances:

·         If you sign your name or write any other word or figure upon it or make any mark any mark upon it.

·         If it does not bear the seal of the branch

·         If the ballot paper is unmarked or void for uncertainty

·         If (Tick Mark) is set opposite to the name of more than 8 (eight) candidates.

 

5.                    After you have recorded your Votes on the Ballot Paper, you should fold the Ballot Paper, leave the secret chamber and insert the ballot paper in the ballot box provided in presence of the polling officer.
